Millroy: I was looking for a wedding course that went beyond a single day, because one day didn’t feel sufficient for a lifetime commitment. A friend recommended Marriage Sankofa, and that really resonated with me.
Jenese: At first, I felt a one-day course would be enough. However, after Millroy spoke with Aunty Aba and shared her perspective, I felt more confident and open to committing to a longer programme.
Before the course, we realised that—even after four years together—there was still so much we didn’t know about each other. We hadn’t fully explored our individual likes and dislikes, our core values, or our perspectives on marriage and life after marriage. We also struggled to communicate without blaming one another, which often led to arguments.
After completing the course, we feel we understand each other on a much deeper level. We’ve learned how to communicate without blame, to be vulnerable with one another, and to truly listen. We now pray together, have a clearer understanding of each other’s expectations after marriage, and are intentionally learning how to function as a strong, united team—committed to walking this journey together until death do us part.
